The Star of the Sea Catholic Church Pro-Life Youth Committee
conceived and produced a memorial service for the victims of abortion.  It was held on the waterfront boardwalk in downtown Bremerton.  With the theme “Never Known – Not Forgotten”, the event featured a candlelight vigil, a talk by Noreen McEntee and others, and a display that brought the loss of life due to abortion home, with items typical of one’s daily life (song book, hammer, etc.) and remembrances such as “Anna - Never a singer” and “Joe - Never a carpenter”.

Speaking on behalf of the voiceless unborn.

“One baby dies every 24 seconds by abortion.  150 lives lost between 7 & 8 PM (the duration of Memorial for the Unborn).  47 million lives taken from 1973 to 2006.”

The candles are lit, symbolic of the value and light given by each small life - ended by the scourge and tragedy of abortion.

Silent contemplation of the lives taken by the act of abortion due to a misunderstanding of the nature and value of all life of human origin.

Each small individual killed by abortion had their futures and all their potential unjustly taken from them... a future we can guess at, but now can never know.

Thousands... millions of individuals not allowed to continue their lives — hugs not given, kisses not received.

As we contemplate the rich, full lives that might have been...

...we pray with urgent concern for the unborn who are currently threatened by abortion - that they experience the depth of God’s love, for their parents - that they choose life, for those who surround the parents - that they support them in their choice for life, and for those who aide in the abortive act - that they experience an awakening conversion to the knowledge of their terrible actions as they are comforted by God’s infinite mercy.
